NRL Tips – St George Illawarra v Sydney Roosters – Round 8 2024

Sydney Roosters St-George Illawarra Dragons - Rugby Betting Tips

One of the jewels in the crown of the NRL schedule, the Dragons and Roosters will square off at Allianz Stadium in front of a full house in a game that nearly always lives up to the hype.

St George Illawarra +6.5

The one stat that really stood out when putting numbers together for this game is how closely the traditional Anzac Day clash between the Dragons and the Roosters has been in recent years.

In the last seven meetings on Anzac Day, five have been determined by two points or fewer. The underdogs tends to lift on a day that is all about lifting. The last eight Anzac Day games have been split down the middle.

The Dragons are not without a hope here. They have covered three of the last four against the Roosters and won the last meeting 24-22.

Of particular note is how well the Dragons play in NSW. They are 34-19 ATS in NSW while they are 19-11 ATS when an underdog of 4.5 or more in NSW.

The Roosters get some troops back – Sam Walker and Dom Young – but they have covered just 3 of 10 when favoured by more than a try.

It is not a high confidence bet but the plus is the bet.

Daniel Tupou Try/Zac Lomax Try
Same Game Multi

Daniel Tupou has five tries in seven games this season and the Dragons right edge has been abhorrent defensively.

Zac Lomax has scored in every game bar one and is playing on full bar confidence.

Value Bet

Kyle Flanagan
To Score A Try

Kyle Flanagan is typically an underrated tryscorer who should be right in the mix in a game that can go over the total. He has three tries in seven games this season and is playing some decent footy led by his support play.
