NRL Tips – St George Illawarra v Manly – Round 4 2024

St George Illawarra Dragons vs Manly Warringah Sea Eagles | NRL Tips

St George Illawarra disappointed last week when suffering a second straight flogging, this time on home turf, but getting a big start at home they need to be backed again.

Best Bet

St George Illawarra +8.5
Line

The Dragons were very disappointing as an 8.5-point home favourite at Kogarah last week when leading 18-4 against the Cowboys and not only failing to cover but getting whipped.

That is two straight floggings so confidence is rightly low but they have to be a bet getting the same start against the Sea Eagles in Wollongong.

Early season home underdogs of at least a try have an incredible record, covering at 65%. Big home underdogs off a poor defensive display have an even better record with home dogs of at least eight points off conceding 46 or more covering at 77%.

The Dragons have a great record at Wollongong, covering 11 of 15 at the ground, while they are 9-2 all-time at the ground against the Sea Eagles.

Manly are obviously a better team but they may not even be a Top 8 team so laying such a big start on the road against an embarrassed team seems too much.

Tom Trbojevic 2+ Tries/Tyrell Sloan Try
Same Game Multi

Tom Trbojevic has 41 tries in his last 39 games including 11 matches with two or more tries.

Tyrell Sloan has elite speed and has scored four tries in his last three games.

Value Bet

Zac Lomax
To Score 2+ Tries

Zac Lomax is a quality tryscorer and he won’t get a better chance to fill up than squaring off against Jaxson Paulo. Paulo has zero idea and puts in even less effort. Lomax has five tries in 10 games on the wing, above his career average.
