We have a belter to open Round 14 – and the halfway round of the regular season – when old school rivals Manly and South Sydney square off at Brookvale in a battle between fifth and sixth with the winner every chance of finishing the weekend inside the Top 4.

Both teams are set to get troops back with Haumole Olakau’atu and potentially Tolutau Koula back for Manly if the NRL grants an examption to the latter while Souths are welcoming back David Fifita and Brandon Smith, among others.

The big concern for Souths is Latrell Mitchell’s back injury. Souths win rate drop from 61% to 41% when their star back is out.

Manly have been sensational under Kieran Foran, conceding over 18 for the first time in nine games last Friday against the Sharks. Take out a very poor first half though and the Sea Eagles really haven’t played poorly in his stewardship, covering seven of nine.

Manly have covered their last three against Top 8 teams while they are 25-15 ATS off a loss.

Souths have covered just 17 of 45 against Top 8 opposition.
