Sin City once again plays host to the NRL season openers and the Raiders and Warriors makes for a compelling matchup to start the year.

Canberra look reasonably settled heading into the season with only Albert Hopoate missing. They lost only older players and get Zac Hosking back from injury. The debut of youngster Owen Pattie adds plenty of excitement.

It is a slightly different story for New Zealand, who have gone through a transformation following the retirements of Shaun Johnson and Tohu Harris along with the departure of Addin Fonua-Blake. They are also without Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.

While the Warriors should be a better team this year, the Raiders look a much better play in Round 1. They are certainly more settled.

Favourites have been poison in Round 1, covering at just 29% the last three years.

Canberra are 7-2 ATS interstate while the Warriors have covered just 13 of 34 when favoured.

Be with Canberra.
