Canberra will be in the unique situation of not having their coach available this week through suspension and with star forward Joe Tapine out they look extremely vulnerable.
Best Bet
It has been a miserable week for Canberra, who have been in the spotlight after their loss to Penrith thanks to their petulant and spiteful coach who labelled an opponent “a weak-gutted dog as a kid and is a weak-gutted dog person now”. Perhaps more concerning is the loss of prop Joe Tapine to a rib injury. The Raiders will probably benefit from not having Stuart around but the loss of Tapine, their forward leader, cannot be underestimated.
The Dragons have tended to play the Raiders well recently. They won a heavily-weather impacted game against Canberra six weeks back. The Saints have covered nine of the last 12 meetings.
Canberra are a very poor proposition at home. They have covered just 13 of 36 at Canberra Stadium including just five of 15 when favoured by a converted try and two of 10 home day games.
The Saints are hardly reliable but they do play their best football in the afternoon, covering seven of 11 day games.
The Dragons and the points are the play here.
Same Game Multi
Mathew Feagai has crossed in three of his last four games and has been their best strike weapon over the last month.
Sebastian Kris is Canberra’s leading tryscorer with 10 tries in 14 games. He has four tries in his last four games.
Value Bet
Ben Hunt is an underrated tryscorer who is averaging a try in just under four games across his 14-year career. He is in great nick too with five tries in his last eight games.
