Penrith certainly showed they were back to the form that led them to four straight premierships with a 26-0 win over Brisbane at Suncorp. Cronulla received no resistance in putting 50 on a heinous Titans outfit with Braydon Trindall setting up four tries and scoring two himself.
While the Panthers laying the points is tempting, the better play in this one is the under.
It is hard seeing Cronulla score many points having been kept to 12 or fewer in six of their last eight against Penrith.
The under hits at 65% in Round 2 since 2021 while the under hits at 64% in Bathurst games. Ivan Cleary focuses very much on getting his defence right early with the under hitting at 61% in the opening four rounds under his steerage.
With the under 13-9 when the Sharks are an underdog of a try and 61% when away from Shark Park, the under looks a super bet.

Penrith have won the last five against Cronulla, covering the last four. Cronulla have been held to 12 points or fewer in six of their last eight against the Panthers.
Brian To’o has 43 tries in 63 games the last four seasons and is primed to take advantage of the Sharks’ leaky right side.

Scott Sorensen is not a renowned tryscorer but the Sharks last season conceded 47% of tries down their right – making that edge one of the weakest in the NRL. Sorensen has 10 tries over the last three seasons covering 57 games. He did score against his old side two matchups back and this is a plus matchup where he is big odds.
