Arguably the best Newcastle have looked this year was when they rolled Penrith in Bathurst 25-6 with Kalyn Ponga away. Fletcher Sharpe went back to fullback and enjoyed more freedom while we saw the edges used much more effectively.

A lesson was also hopefully learned last week when post half-time the Knights just started getting their outside backs early ball. It is what they need to do going forward considering their dearth of halves.

This is a very nice spot for Newcastle despite them winning just three of the last 20 against the Roosters.

The Knights have covered eight of 11 as a home underdog and have covered their last four as a home underdog when they are of a win. Against teams outside the Top 8, the Knights are 29-17 ATS.

The Roosters are much-improved but have lost five players to Origin and now must recalibrate with Sam Walker back to guide the team around. They have covered just six of 16 when favoured by more than six on the road.
