South Sydney were a different team with Latrell Mitchell at the back and should be able to dominate a hapless Newcastle.
Best Bet
South Sydney have dominated Newcastle in recent years and even with a number of key outs due to Origin, Souths look set for a comfortable win in the Hunter on Friday night.
The key, of course, is Latrell Mitchell. He was outstanding in his return and will be much better for that run. His touch was not there against the Eels even though his presence certainly was.
Souths have won 11 of 13 against Newcastle including the last two by 14-plus. They have won four straight in Newcastle, three by 12-plus. Since 2008, the Rabbitohs have covered 11 of 17 since 2008 against the Knights.
The Bunnies have covered at a rate of 58% of a double digit win and are 25-17 against the spread away from ANZ. Souths have covered 21 of 37 off scoring 30-plus.
Newcastle come off a strong win over Gold Coast but that means little. The Knights have covered 12 of 37 off a win and just 4 of 13 at home off a win. Newcastle have covered just 3 of 11 as a home underdog and 2 of 10 off scoring 30-plus.
Same Game Multi
South Sydney have won 11 of 13 against Newcastle and should collect the two points again at a very good price.
Alex Johnston has 152 tries in 181 games, has scored 16 tries this year in 15 matches and has crossed for eight tries in his last four matches.
Latrell Mitchell has 30 tries in 52 games at fullback, taking full advantage of being able to bob up on all sides.
Value Bet
Keaon Koloamatangi is having his best tryscoring season with four tries in 15 games. He matches up against a very poor Knights left edge defence. He seems primed for a big game.
