Newcastle’s hot start to the season has cooled somewhat but they will be able to keep things close at home against Penrith in what shapes as a low-scoring affair.

Best Bet
There is nothing enjoyable about betting against Penrith but this line is too big for a home team so early in the season.
Double digit underdogs have an imperious record and this early in the season it is verging on perfection when they are at home. Home underdogs of only 8 or more points cover at 63% in the opening eight rounds of the season for the better part of two of two decades.
The Knights have tended to play the Panthers well enough with three covers in the last four.
Newcastle are 13-5 against the number at home during afternoon games while they have covered 19 of 31 off scoring 24-plus.
Penrith have not covered any of their last two and this looks like a good spot to be with the Knights.
Same Game Multi
Tom Jenkins is having an extraordinary season with 16 tries in seven games, scoring at least a double in every match.
Dylan Edwards is airborne this year with six tries in seven appearances.
Fletcher Hunt is a highly undervalue tryscoring option who crossed three times last week and he now has six tries in six games this season.
Value Bet
Edge Francis Manuleleua looked absolutely outstanding in his starting debut last week against the Roosters, busting plenty of tackles and looking incredibly dangerous. He has been a strong tryscoring threat at NSW Cup level with eight tries in 24 games. Penrith don’t concede many tries so look for value to cross against them.
