Best Bet
Penrith’s starters return fresh after 16 of them were rested last week in a controversial decision from Panthers coach Ivan Cleary. The focus now is getting their season kick-started in the hope of winning a fifth straight title.
While the Dragons have fallen to the bottom four, they have generally been a tough proposition. They have lost their last two by big scores but prior had lost just three matches all season by eight or more points.
The Dragons are generally highly reliable as a big underdog, covering 21 of 30 getting a start of at least eight points. Wollongong is where the Dragons are most underrated, covering 16 of 23 at the ground including nine of 13 as an underdog. There are few better bounce back teams either with the Dragons 22-12 ATS off a double digit loss.
Penrith are unquestionably the better team but they are a poor 5-10 ATS as a road favourite of at least eight points while they have covered just three of nine day games.
The plus is too big here.
Same Game Multi
Casey McLean has eight tries in his last six games and his tryscoring chances are not hurt by his refusal to pass a ball.
Tyrell Sloan is an elite tryscorer with 16 tries in 19 games this year.
Mat Feagai has 10 tries in 16 starts over the last two starts.
Value Bet
Jacob Liddle is one of the most underrated players in the NRL and that comes double for his tryscoring ability. Liddle has speed and great hands and is never fearful of having a go close to the line. Starting from the bench is of no concern either with all nine of his tries this year coming from the pine.
