NRL Tips – Dolphins v Wests Tigers – Round 5 2024

The Dolphins sit atop the table and the Tigers have won their last two as both teams have surprised with a fast start but with a notable home field advantage, there is only one way to play this one.

Dolphins -4.5

The most experienced coach in premiership history Wayne Bennett takes on rookie mentor Benji Marshall and both have certainly started 2024 in similar style with both bouncing back from shocking opening losses to win their last two.

It is hard to look past the Dolphins this week though, particularly with the Tigers losing exciting rookie Lachlan Galvin to suspension for two weeks.

The big angle here is playing against interstate teams off a win in the opening eight weeks of the season. Said teams cover at just 37% the last four seasons.

The Dolphins have covered nine of 15 at night and nine of 15 off scoring 20-plus and in the rare spot as a favourite, have covered four of six.

The Phins look to have too much firepower here.

Jack Bostock Try/Jake Averillo Try
Same Game Multi

Jack Bostock is growing in confidence and was very good against the Titans last week, including scoring with a very tough finish.

Jake Averillo is a genuine speedster who has 13 tries in his last 26 games and is another who should benefit against the vulnerable Tigers right.

Value Bet

Euan Aitken
To Score A Try

The keenness on Euan Aitken to score is very much related to Jayden Sullivan getting an undeserved recall. Sullivan’s shoddy defence left the Tigers right edge exposed time and time again when the Tigers played the Raiders. Aitken runs hard and runs the outside-in line that can expose bad defensive halfs.
