Canterbury have started to show some significant improvement and against a Knights team that is not nearly as good as advertised, can reel in a rare win.
Best Bet
It is surprising to see the Bulldogs underdogs at home to Newcastle here.
The Bulldogs have really dug in every game this season and they really have been pretty good in patches that saw them lose close ones to Souths and Melbourne and win a tight one against the Roosters. They have been defensively sound and even though they are lacking polish in attack, they have moved away from their slow block plays to give their talented stars more early ball.
The Knights have hardly set the game alight this year and have some serious injuries to deal with. While both have been named, Dane Gagai is almost certainly out while Kalyn Ponga has hardly been able to walk and will only play if needled-up.
The numbers, given how poor the Bulldogs gave been, aren’t great but this looks like a very big price for them against a Knights team that could well be without Gagai and Ponga.
Same Game Multi
Greg Marzhew has 23 tries in 25 games since joining the Knights and should be able to score against Canterbury’s porous right edge.
Josh Addo-Carr comes off a hat-trick and is looking as fit and healthy as he has in 12 months.
Value Bet
Josh Curran has been misused this year by Cameron Ciraldo but one thing that has worked in his favour is his minutes. He is playing 60-plus minutes a game, He is a tireless worker and he has been a scorer when starting. Curran has nine tries in 33 starts so is huge overs here.
