The Storm seem to have steadied the ship in recent weeks and even with some stars missing look a good bet to beat a Bulldogs team in freefall.
Best Bet
The headline out of the Storm-Bulldogs clash is without question Melbourne missing stars Cameron Munster and Harry Grant with backrower Trent Loiero also out for the Storm.
While a team struggling as much as the Storm can hardly afford to miss two of their biggest stars, Jahrome Hughes and Sua Fa’alogo remain and Melbourne have a remarkably strong record when Munster and Grant have been out. The Storm are, in fact, 12-1 when Munster and Grant are both missing with their cover rate the same when they are in and when they are out.
The Storm have covered 10 of 16 off conceding 10 or fewer while they have dominated the Bulldogs with 10 wins in the last 11, nine by at least six points. They are 8-3 against the spread over that run.
Canterbury have failed to cover seven straight when favoured and seven straight off a loss of 16-plus.
Melbourne should make it three on end.
Same Game Multi
The last five between these two have tallied 44 or fewer with the Bulldogs scoring more than 18 just once since 2015 against the Storm.
Sua Fa’alogo has 12 tries in 11 games this season and has not gone back-to-back games without crossing.
Ativalu Lisati has scored twice in five games this year and is going to wreak havoc on the worrisome Bulldogs edges.
Value Bet
Josh King does not score a lot of tries – he has just 15 over the course of his 192-game career – but this is a good matchup for him. No team concedes a bigger percentage of tries through the middle and King can motor when close to the line. He scored against the Eels last week so is in good form.
