Magic Round kicks off with a decidedly unmagic affair between the bottom two teams on the ladder.
Best Bet
Under 34.5 ($1.85)
Magic Round is not kicking off in an overly magic way with the bottom two teams squaring off in what looks to be torrential rain. It has been coming in sideways all week and a heavy track and rough conditions between two of the more inept attacking teams in the premiership sees the lowest total of 2022 posted. It is not nearly low enough.
These two have a long history of low-scoring encounters. The under is 18-4 in the 22 matches since 2008. Four of the last five have not tallied more than 38.
Canterbury are a huge under team primarily because they are by nearly any metric the worst attacking team, as they were last year and as they were the year before. The under is 13-5 when the Bulldogs are off conceding 14 or fewer, 18-8 when they play away from ANZ at night and 6-2 when they play at Suncorp.
When there has been a total under 36 since 2008, the under has hit at 60%.
By any which way this game is chopped, a low-scoring game seems to be the outcome.

Same Game Multi
Under 39.5/Tri Bet Either Team 6 or Less/Josh Addo-Carr Try ($7.50)
As noted above, this game is set to be a low-scoring affair.
Both teams have this marked as a rare win so happy to bet this to be a one-score game, particularly with Canterbury favoured in a game for the first time in over 24 months.
Josh Addo-Carr has five tries in his last four games and was denied another by The Bunker last week so is in fine tryscoring form.
Value Bet
Bradman Best Try ($3.10)
Bradman Best’s tryscoring form has gone south over the last two seasons with just five tries in his last 26 games. He has thrived against a poor Canterbury tea,m though, scoring in each of the two meetings last season.
