The Chicago Bears will be hoping new coach Ben Johnson can spark life into their offence, while the Vikings will be treading into the unknown as JJ McCarthy has his first start at QB.

Best Bet
The Lions struggles in Week 1 are a terrific advertisement for new Bears coach Ben Johnson.
He put together the single best offence in the NFL last season, but without his guiding hand they languished to just 13 points and 246 yards against the Packers – most of which was in junk time anyway.
While it is not reasonable to expect the Bears to suddenly become the 2024 Lions, Johnson does have plenty to work with. Caleb Williams had an up and down rookie season, but there are many examples of rookie QB’s who hit their stride in season two once a new playcaller was installed.
On the other side of the ball, it’s difficult to predict how JJ McCarthy will fare, but making his debut at Soldier Field in a primetime game is a very difficult assignment. Since 2003, first round rookie quarterbacks (which McCarthy effectively is) are 8-20 against the number.
With a big home field advantage, happy to play the underdog Browns here.
Same Game Multi
It’s hard to see this one being a shootout given the potential for offensive struggles on both sides of the ball, so happy to play the under.
Ben Johnson reunites with D’Andre Swift who had plenty of success with him in Detroit. The Vikings should be a better unit against the run this season, but 50.5 is a very attainable line.
Value Bet
One area Johnson excels in is scheming up easy completions for his best playmakers. Expect Moore, clearly WR1 in Chicago, to be used early and often.
