After diabolical 2024 seasons, both New England and Las Vegas hit the reset button this year, leading to optimism amongst both franchises.
The Patriots did what they should have done a year ago and signed Mike Vrabel to coach. He has splashed out on free agency, upgrading a roster that was desperately thin.
The Raiders sought culture change after the failed Antonio Pierce experiment with veteran Pete Carroll brought in. Plenty of veterans have been sent packing but this is a team built to win now – or at the very least, soon.
This is a superb spot for the Raiders with West Coast teams playing on the East Coast in the opening five weeks of the seasons covering at 77%. Road underdogs in the opening four weeks of the season who did not make the playoffs the year prior are historically good bets too, covering at a clip of 59%.
This is a worrying spot for the Patriots too with favourites in Week 1 off a season with four or fewer wins 8-13 against the spread.

Brock Bowers scored four touchdowns in his last 10 games where he topped 90 yards six times and finished the season with snap counts above 90% in nine of his last 10.
TreVeyon Henderson impressed in the off-season for the Patriots. He recorded double digit touchdowns in three of his four years at Ohio State despite a stacked backfield.
Value Bet
Former LSU and TCU wideout Jack Bech looms as a potential x-factor in the Raiders passing game after being drafted in the second round. He is listed as WR2 and comes off a nine TD season with the Horned Frogs. He looks a great value bet.
