Monday night features a double header with the Bills hosting the Jags in Buffalo, while Washington travel to Cincinnati.
Bills v Jaguars
Buffalo look set to extend the Jaguars losing start to the 2024 season.
The Jags offence has been woeful, scoring just 30 points across two games. Trevor Lawrence has failed to live up to his reputation, completing just 51% of his passes.
But it’s been third down and in the redzone that – much like last year – the Jags have struggled, converting just five on nineteen third down opportunities and three from seven in the red zone.
Josh Allen has started the season in red hot form but it was mostly the defence that carried Buffalo to success against Miami last week. While the linebacker corps is beaten up, the secondary has excelled and the defensive line looks the most potent for years.
With Buffalo coming off extended rest into this one (they played on Thursday night last week) they look ideally positioned to go 3-0.
Bengals v Commanders
Washington have done enough offensively to suggest they can keep this game within the converted touchdown line.
Rookie QB Jayden Daniels has been weapon in the running game having gone for 132 yards rushing in his first two games, and it has helped unlock the Commanders backs as well as they put up more than 200 rushing yards against the Bengals last week.
What have Cincinnati been vulnerable to? The run. In Week 1 they gave up 170 yards to the Patriots, and in Week 2, 149 to the Chiefs.
Daniels has also minimised mistakes, not throwing a single interception.
If they run the ball well again and don’t turn it over, Washington can definitely keep this one within the spread.
