On a loaded slate for opening week, it could be the biggest game of all when Detroit travel to Lambeau Field to play the Packers.
Best Bet
Although they crashed out of the playoffs, it’s easy to forget just how good the Lions were on offence last year.
They could have been nearly as good on defence too, until injuries ultimately brought about their downfall. The Lions second stringers could hold the line, but the third stringers couldn’t.
So the Lions should have plenty of reason for confidence heading into Lambeau. While they have lost co-ordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, they have a loaded roster, especially with the return of sack machine Aidan Hutchinson.
The Packers grabbed the headlines in the lead up to this game by trading for Micah Parsons, and while he is a genuine superstar, he is also battling back soreness so his effectiveness in this game is up for question.
It’s worth remembering that the Lions have been a line covering juggernaut under Dan Campbell, going 48-24-1 in his four seasons, including 12-6 last year.
Getting the start, the Lions are an excellent bet.
Same Game Multi
The Lions were vulnerable on the ground last year and it wouldn’t surprise if the Packers lean heavily on RB Josh Jacobs. Jahmyr Gibbs certainly established himself as RB1 ahead of David Montgomery last year in Detroit.
Value Bet
Gibbs finished off last season in great style, with ten scores in his last five outings. He can pick up where he left off.
