Whether Brock Purdy plays or not – he shapes as a game time decision, with Mac Jones the alternate – the 49ers look a strong bet at home.

Admittedly the 49ers record at home last two seasons has been awful against the number – 4-12 – but seldom have they been laying less than a field goal.

There are definite parallels between these teams. Both are unbeaten. Both have been the Saints in New Orleans. Both wins have been by one score.

But the Cardinals made hard work of the Panthers, allowing a backdoor cover at home, while the 49ers Week 1 victory over the Seahawks looks better given that team’s Week 2 effort.

The 49ers defence has been particularly strong, ranking in the top ten in just about every metric, and they have been excellent on third down offensively, ranking second in the league.

They can take advantage of a Cardinals defence that has been giving up the second most first downs in the league. 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is the master of taking what the defence gives.
