The story out of this one is the heavy injury toll that has hit the already depleted 49ers. Star tight end George Kittle left last week’s win over the Seahawks early while QB Brock Purdy was ruled out midweek with a variation of turf toe. Mac Jones will make his first start as a 49er. Jones is 4-14 the last two seasons with the Pats an Jags.

Expectations for the Saints are extremely low this year with new coach Kellen Moore needing to rebuild even if he does not realise it. They are a decent show this week though against the banged-up Niners.

Home underdogs against unbeaten teams cover at 63% while underdogs in games with a total less than 42 cover at north of 60%.

Juwan Johnson is a beast who pulled in eight catches on 11 targets in Week 1, making it three straight games with at least six catches.

With Purdy and Kittle out, the 49ers will lean on the run more than they usually do. That bodes well for Christian McCaffrey, who ran for 69 yards in the opener and has made a career out of high volume, high return games.
