The undefeated Melbourne United is no more, after a loss to the Sydney Kings on Monday night. They will have no time to lick their wounds, with JaVale Mcgee and the Hawks ready and waiting tonight in Wollongong.

Illawarra Hawks Vs. Melbourne United (Wed 7:30pm)
Best Bet
Todd should see a lot more court time after the groin injury to Jonah Bolden. With Sam Froling still missing, the Hawks are slightly short handed when it comes to their bigs. Luckily, they still have former NBA champion JaVale Mcgee to lead the charge.
Blanchfield had 7 rebounds in his 16 minutes last game and there is no reason he can’t repeat something similar here against Melbourne. He is averaging 4.5 rebounds per game for the season, and the added game time should be a bonus.
New Zealand Breakers Vs. Adelaide 36ers (Thurs 5:30pm)
Next Best
Brockington has had back-to-back games of 12, which presents a chance at good odds here. He has shot poorly by his standard, but has been resilient in shooting attempts. New Zealand had a massive forty-two-point victory last week, showing to themselves what they are capable of when they play team basketball.
With Sam Mennenga and Jackson Cartwright forming a nice 1-2 punch for the Breakers, they are screaming for a third point of attack to consistently spread the floor. It’s between Brockington and future stars Karim Lopez, who played well last week.
Illawarra Hawks Vs. Melbourne United (Wed 7:30pm)
Value Bet
It’s first versus last on the NBL ladder and at face value you probably think I’m mad to back the Hawks, but here is why.
Melbourne suffered their first loss on Monday night just gone; they then had a travel day to the Gong for this game. The Hawks have added Will Hickey to their side and looked rejuvenated, then pushing the 36ers right to the end, ultimately losing by two.
These two teams do not get along and I’m expecting it to get physical, as they reunite after last season’s NBL Championship Finals campaign. The reigning champ Hawks are just about at a fork in the road moment if they are to turn this season around and play finals.
If the Hawks can get this thing chippy and push United to late in the fourth, they may just run over the top of them, handing them their second loss in three nights.
