Illawarra Hawks Vs. Tasmania JackJumpers (Wed 5:30pm)
Best Bet
The Hawks are now in desperation stages as this season, that promised so much, is slipping away. A three-game losing streak and an away game, where they are just 2 – 7 for the season.
Everything rides on their MVP JaVale McGee, and he needs a big game tonight. He has cooled off from the numbers he was producing early, but should enjoy the match up on Will Magnay. He killed Tassie last time they met, finishing with 32 and 13 although that was back in September.
He is averaging 23.6PPG over his last six, even with a noticeable drop in game time. I expect Illawarra to make this a full game, so hopefully we see 28-30 minutes from McGee.
Illawarra Hawks Vs. Tasmania JackJumpers (Wed 5:30pm)
Next Best
The Jackies have been alternating wins and losses, and the pattern may continue against the Hawks.
Another home game for them, after their gritty win against South East, who were sitting third. Its only the third home win for Tassie, who used to have a fortress type atmosphere at MyState Bank Arena. It took 21 bench points from Majok Deng to get them over the line, as a team shooting 46% from the field. The 8 home losses is a damning statistic, and the Hawks will enter Tasmania knowing this.
Froling looked great on return from an Achillies tear and didn’t appear to have a minute’s restriction. If Tyler Harvey plays, they will go into this at full strength. The Hawks are now in danger of missing finals altogether, which is less than ideal as a championship defence, expect them to be hungry.
Cairns Taipans Vs. S.E Melbourne Phoenix (Wed 7:30pm)
Value Bet
Now sitting fourth overall for season average assists, Andrews has hit this number in 3 of his last five games.
When McVeigh is having a hot shooting night it’s usually an easy cover for Andrews and now with a few games together with Sam Waardenburg, the team chemistry is building for Cairns.
In his last nine games Andrews has missed this number only twice, finishing both times with 6 assists. With McVeigh and Sobey most likely getting into a 1 on 1 shootout in this game, Andrews should find plenty of dimes.
