The weight of this series rests on this man’s shoulders. The Phoenix won’t win if Sobey doesn’t drop twenty-two or more.

Twenty-seven field goal attempts in Game 1 and he shot poorly. Only making two of his eleven three-point attempts and most of his interior jump shots were heavily contested. I was surprised at how easily he could get to the ring and the secondary defence at the rim did not phase him.

The Phoenix have relied all season on high tempo and fast break offence and they won’t change anything now. The home crowd will be loud once Sobey makes his first few.

Huge concern for Brown, who looked completely dejected after sustaining a groin injury late in the piece. Yes, a serious injury has been ruled out, and he plays this elimination game, but after seeing his reaction and the fact Game 1 was just four days ago, makes you wonder.

He started the game with foul trouble, stifling his first half minutes and got to half time with zero rebounds. He was much better in the second half, but the damage was done. I know he will leave it all on the floor tonight, but the 34-year-old has only had a small turnaround to get right for this game.

We saw them challenged the entire way in Game 1, but Bryce Cotton personally had all the answers. Even for the MVP, his performance went to another level. An efficient 42 points at 68% and we saw the Phoenix defenders pleading with teammates “what do I do?!”

The supportive cast was fairly quiet for Adelaide, but the bench did their part, adding 31 bench points. This game switches to John Cain Arena and the 36ers have the luxury of another home final, if they lose.

The Phoenix shot poorly at just 27% from deep and failed to score their season average of 100 total points. If Adelaide can keep it close all game, we just might see the pressure start to affect the Phoenix decision making. In a coin toss game, this is value.
