The Lakers get the game one victory, but Houston would be kicking themselves, after shooting thirty-three more field goals and still getting beaten. King James was at his playoff best.

Best Bet
Houston Rockets @ L.A Lakers (12:40pm)
Father time is in the fight of his life with LeBron James.
The Lakers took care of business in game one on their home court. Despite missing two of their three best players, they beat the Rockets with defence, keeping them under one hundred points. LeBron had his fingerprints all over the win as expected, finishing with 21 RA in just under forty minutes.
The Lakers shot extremely well as a team and Houston really struggled without KD, shooting thirty-three more attempts for nine less points. I don’t know if we see thirteen assists again from James, but I see no reason he can’t give us at least eight and eight.

Philadelphia 76ers @ Boston Celtics (9:10am)
Finished game one with 17PR but had a stinker by his standards shooting wise. Philly had a rough night from deep and Oubre is too good to miss out again.
Kelly missed all of his five three-point attempts and only made five shots for the game. He left points at the free throw line and along with the majority of 76ers would be throwing this box score in the bin.
Oubre’s ability to spread the floor helps open the key for Maxey and Edgecombe and is vital for 76ers success. I expect him to continue to shoot corner three’s but hopefully this time, he shoots closer to his season average of 36%.
Value Bet
Portland Trail Blazers @ San Antonio Spurs (10:10am)
Avdija finished with thirty points in game one but it wasn’t enough, as Portland stayed under one hundred and couldn’t recover from their twenty-one-point opening quarter.
He is the leading option for Portland and boy do they need him to score. With so many of the Blazers players having a tendency to score from outside, it was Deni who wasn’t afraid to attack Wembanyama and make the Spurs defence shift.
Portland will adjust but they can’t keep letting Wembanyama control the key making it a no-fly zone. I expect an even more aggressive Avdija and more transition offence, not letting the Spurs settle.
