With Brooklyn in disarray both on and off the court we have a tremendous bet to fill the account when they meet Indiana again at the Barclays Centre.
Best Bet
Pacers @ Nets (10:40am)
Steve Nash is clinging to his job as Brooklyn head coach by his fingernails after his Nets were humiliated by the Pacers on Saturday, a 125-116 loss as an 11-point favourite. Brooklyn have now lost four straight and won just one of six despite having Durant, Irving and Simmons on the roster.
All come with their problems though. Durant wants out. Irving continues to court unnecessary controversy. Simmons is barely on the court and when he is his effectiveness is being questioned.
All of this has meshed to make Brooklyn one of the worst defensive units in the NBA through the first two weeks. The Nets have conceded at least 105 points in all six games and more than 125 in four of those. Their 122.2 points per game conceded is the second worst in the NBA.
Scoring has been better. Brooklyn have topped 116 in three of their last four.
Indiana have been a debacle defensively too conceding 114-plus in all seven games. They have topped 124 on four occasions.
The over is 31-15-1 when the Pacers play a losing team and is 23-5-1 when the Nets play a losing team so this has all the makings of a free-flowing shootout.
Next Best
Hawks @ Raptors (10:40am)
The money has been coming for Toronto since markets opened with the Raptors firming from 2.5-point favourites to 4-point elects with that line not expected to last.
Toronto typically are a very good bounce back team, covering 19 of 27 off a loss and 40 of 58 off allowing 100-plus.
The Raptors have also covered five of seven against teams with a winning record.
Atlanta have been poor travellers with covers in just 8 of 27 road games.
Value Bet
Pistons @ Bucks (11:10am)
This is a complete mismatch with Milwaukee expected to go nuts here against the worst defensive team in the NBA who are conceding north of 122 points per game.
Milwaukee have topped 119 in three of their last four.
The Bucks have covered seven of 10 against the Pistons with three of the last four clashes resulting in Milwaukee wins of 21 or more.
Given how bad Detroit are defensively, this looks a great option with 140-plus not beyond Milwaukee.
