Someone has to make way for Dylan Harper and with Champagnie shooting the lights out, it could be Vassell who misses out.

They quite simply need to play Dylan Harper as much as they possibly can, if the Spurs are any chance of pegging a game back this series.

Similar to what we saw in the OKC series, Harper has the best plus-minus and net rating for the Spurs two games into the NBA Finals, and although he’ll still come off the bench, Coach Johnson needs to consider playing Harper 36+ minutes in Game 3.

Harper has played 28+ minutes in 12 games this season – when doing so, he’s averaged 18.8 points per game and has covered 13.5 points in 10 of those games. No excuse now – he just has to play.

Rebounding numbers for Vassell have been very surprising, and I’m happy to take the 6+ at the value based on the first two games of this series.

Vassell recorded nine rebounds in each of the first two games of the NBA Finals, and has hit 6+ rebounds in his last three games.

It appears that it might be Castle making way for Harper in the rotation due to his offensive struggles, and that Vassell is a constant in the rotation. Assuming he plays 36+ minutes again, when doing so he’s averaged 5.8 rebounds across 12 games and has hit 6+ in five of the last six from that sample.
