Revenge narrative? Barrett will host his former team in New York on Tuesday, and with the numbers he’s produced this season the line of 21.5 points appears too low.
Barrett averages 23.3 points per game this season, and although Scottie Barnes has returned and consumed some of RJ’s usage, he still averages 23.2 points per game alongside Barnes.
The line has likely dropped due to his last two starts, but the Thunder game was a blowout where he played 31 minutes against OKC’s powerhouse defence, while he played just 27 minutes against the Mavs last start due to foul trouble.
Before these two games, Barrett covered 21.5 points in the four games prior so I think we’ll see a return to form for RJ against his former team.
Value Bet
Assist numbers are right up there for Barnes since his return from injury averaging 8.6 per game in his nine games back.
The minutes are strong for the former ROY who is playing between 36-38 each night now, and from his last five games he averages 10 assists per game hitting 14 last start against Dallas.
Running the point for Toronto, Barnes will face a New York team that concede assists to point guards 12% above average over the last month, making them the sixth easiest team in the NBA. Think we’ll find that Barnes will be pushing double-digits dimes for the remainder of the season going forward.
