Best Bet
San Antonio Spurs @ Dallas Mavericks (12:30pm)
Lively should command starters minutes for this Mavericks side and I’m expecting 25+ alongside A.D at power forward. The fact Daniel Gafford is a GTD only emphasises this play.
Lively now in his third NBA season, will be keen to get some healthy basketball in the league as he has battled injury, playing just 91 games over two seasons. He averaged 7.5 rebounds last season and that was in the 23 minutes he averaged per game.
Dallas will be an exciting team to watch this season with our first look at #1 pick Cooper Flagg tomorrow. Take the Overs here and enjoy the viewing of Flagg Vs Wembanyama for the first time of many, for years to come.
Next Best
Sacramento Kings @ Phoenix Suns (1:00pm)
Williams finally found a new home in Phoenix, after the Dalton Knecht trade reversal that happened last season. What a mess.
Phoenix have made some big moves in the off season but all of them suggest a rebuild. They won’t be great this season, but game one against Sacramento presents an opportunity to compete and potentially win.
Williams will play against second string centre Drew Eubanks for Sacramento, as their normal centre Domantas Sabonis recovers from a hamstring strain. Williams averaged 25.5PR last season, albeit in a completely different situation. At least a double-double here to start the season.
Value Bet
Philadelphia 76ers @ Boston Celtics (10:30am)
I’m not sold on these Celtics. The 76ers have a lot of question marks too, but game one of their season, we should see plenty of Embiid and Paul George before any chance of load management or injury occurs.
The Celtics will be missing Tatum, Porzingis, Holiday, Horford and potentially Brown from last season and I just don’t know where the production comes from. White, Pritchard and new recruit Anfernee Simons will look to lead their organisation, but this team is not what it used to be.
The 76ers look good on paper with the usual suspects mentioned above plus Tyrese Maxey and new rookie, the #3 overall pick VJ Edgecombe. They go deep through Oubre Jnr and McCain and might prove too much for the new look Celtics.
