Another big slate of NBA on Saturday, the although the Bulls will be without Zach LaVine again, DeMar DeRozan can carry them once again.
Best Bet
Spurs @ Pacers (10:00am)
It was an impressive effort by tank candidate Indiana in their opener against the Wizards, only down by three points with 30 seconds remaining.
Led by Tyrese Haliburton who has been joined by a potential long-term back-court partner in Bennedict Mathurin, the Pacers certainly won’t be in the playoff calculations this season, but they showed a lot more than San Antonio.
The Spurs are the #1 candidate for Victor Wembenyama stakes this season, emphasised by a 27-point loss to the Hornets in the season opener. This won’t exactly be a league pass watch but the Pacers should cover on their home court.
Next Best
Pelicans @ Hornets (10:00am)
With no Lamelo Ball or Miles Bridges in this Charlotte outfit, Terry Rozier has the keys to the Hornets offense and demonstrated that in their season opener against the Spurs.
Rozier had 24 points in just under 30 minutes in a blowout win, with 19 field goal attempts for the game and his usage above 30.
Averaging around 21 points per game his last two seasons, expect Scary Terry to get them up as Charlotte’s offensive focal point.
VALUE BET
Bulls @ Wizards (10:00am)
Without Zach LaVine, the Bulls reliance on DeMar DeRozan is the equivalent to Luka for the Mavs. DeRozan averaged 33.9 points per game without LaVine last season from 14 games, scoring 30+ in 10 of the 14 games.DeMar DeRozan
Opening the 2022/23 season, it was the same old story for DeRozan scoring 37 points against a strong defensive team in the Heat, with his usage above 30.
With the Wizards giving up 26 points to Haliburton on Thursday, we should see DeRozan produce a monster game.
