NBA Tips – Friday, January 3 NBA Picks & Multi

After a recent trade, D’Angelo Russell is back in Brooklyn for a second time. His hot start against Toronto should continue here against tougher opposition.

Best Bet

Brooklyn Nets @ Milwaukee Bucks (12:10pm)

D'Angelo Russell
6+ Assists

Welcome back D’Angelo Russell. It didn’t take long post trade for D’Lo to make an impression on team mates and fans. In just 26 minutes off the bench he produced a healthy 22 points, 8 assists and a few solid defensive plays. He might not shoot 70% every night, so I’m attacking the assist line.

D’Lo had a great first outing in Toronto, but that’s about all that went right for Brooklyn. They lost to a struggling Raptors outfit and now have lost 8 of their last 10. Things won’t get any easier here, on a back to back against a much stronger Milwaukee Bucks. The back to back and the Nets being pretty beat up means Russell could find himself with a starting spot in his second game at his new club.

Whether he comes off the bench again is still unknown with Cam Thomas likely to play and start, it could be Aussie Ben who makes way for Russell. Either way, I can see his minutes only going up from here and he should see 30+ in this one, plenty of time to find 6 assists. He hit 8 Assists yesterday as our value bet and now his our best.

SGM – Russell 6+ Assists/ Thomas 20+ Points/ Middleton 15+ Points = $5.25

Next Best

Indiana Pacers @ Miami Heat (11:40am)

Pascal Siakam
Over 6.5 Rebounds

He has cleared this line 8 out of his last 10 games. Maybe not as convincingly as we would like with last game only grabbing exactly 7, but a wins a win. He has averaged 9.1 for rebounds within that period, so it gives us a nice buffer here.

The Pacers struggle rebounding as a team, currently third last overall. This one is against the Heat who, outside of Bam Adebayo also lack rebounders. This game should go the distance and with only 1 win separating them in the Eastern Conference, I think we will see a strongly contested affair. His per 36 minute numbers highlight 10.1 rebounds and he should get close to 36 here.

SGM – Siakam 6+ Rebounds/ Nembhard 4+ Assists/ Haliburton 15+ Points = $2.75

Value Bet

Portland Trail Blazers @ Los Angeles Lakers (2:40pm)

Austin Reaves
6+ Rebounds

Where has this come from? He is playing like a man possessed at the moment and over the past week he would qualify as an NBA All Star.

Reaves has cleared this mark in all of his last 4 games. He has also managed to grab 6 rebounds in 6 of his 8 games since returning from injury. His per 36 numbers show he averages 6.2 rebounds and with his current hot streak, he hasn’t played under 36 minutes in 5 games.

Unsure if the recent departure of D’Angelo Russell has helped swing AR15 into more minutes or a better option on offence, because these numbers started before the trade occurred. Nevertheless, he has gone nuclear and I will back him here to run rings around a developing Portland side.

SGM – Reaves 6+ Rebounds/ Reaves 20+ Points/ Camara 6+ Rebounds = $10
