NBA Tips – Friday, December 6 NBA Picks & Multi

An injury to the bookies favourite for Defensive Player Of the Year has opened two spots for us to take advantage of, one for the Spurs but also one for the Bulls.

Best Bet

Chicago Bulls @ San Antonio Spurs (12:00pm)

Nikola Vucevic
Over 19.5 Points

Victor Wembanyama will not play in this game and Vuc will be far to strong for the Spurs back up bigs. Vuc has been insane to begin this season, currently shooting just below 60% and frankly it feels like 80%, the guy just hardly misses. Chicago have been heavily reliant on him, and he has answered.

Most people would assume that the bump in output is largely due to the trade sending DeMar DeRozan to Sacramento and freeing up 15+ shots a game. But on the contrary, Vucevic’s usage is actually down from last season. After a slight cool off in November, he seems to have found his groove again and has averaged 24PPG for the last week. I don’t see San Antonio having the answers to stop another 20+ point game.

SGM – Vuc 15+ Points/ Vassell 15+ Points/ Giddey 6+ Assists = $3.10

Next Best

Denver Nuggets @ Cleveland Cavaliers (11:00am)

Michael Porter Jnr.
Over 5.5 Rebounds

This is a low line for a guy that has cleared 7 Rebounds his last five starts in a row! Denver has all of their players back and need some stability if they are to resurrect their season.

Currently falling to outside the playoffs, Denver have been reliant on role players far more than expected to begin this season. Nikola Jokic continues to do all the heavy lifting, but MPJ has been serviceable. He averaged 7 boards for last season, has averaged 7.2 so far this season so take the reduced line and run with it.

SGM – Porter Jnr 6+ Rebounds/ Garland 6+ Assists/ Mobley 8+ Rebounds = $3.30

Value Bet

Chicago Bulls @ San Antonio Spurs (12:00pm)

Devin Vassell
20+ Points

Three games back after injury and Vassell looks to be close to what we should expect all season. 14 points in limited minutes and then back to back 20 point games give us a good indication of his capability.

With Wemby out due to back soreness the Spurs will need to find offence from elsewhere and that is Devin’s strength. A known scorer especially from three-point range has me excited to see what he can produce. An Average of 12 field goal attempts since returning and with an expected 30+ minutes here he should find at least that many again.

Rookie Stephon Castle is only just doing enough to keep Vassell out of the starters for now, but don’t be surprised if you see Vassell getting the extended minutes if the Spurs can keep it close.
