A very quiet day of NBA, with Luka Doncic likely to steal the show on Friday when the Mavericks visit Detroit.
Best Bet
Mavericks @ Pistons (11:10am)
A bit of a dry assist run for Doncic where he averaged just 6.9 per game for an eight-game stretch, but in Luka’s last six games he’s back at the level we expected.
Since November 18, Doncic is ranked third in the NBA for assists with 10.2 per game covering 8.5 assists in five of his last six games including posting 10+ in three of those.
With the Pistons the second easiest team for point guards to accumulate assists against over the last month at 13% above average, we should see Luka produce another double-digit assist effort.
Value Bet
A Detroit win off the back of their horrific effort last game against the Knicks, where they got rolled by 30 on their home floor, looks incredibly unlikely but they’ll keep this one closer like they did against the Cavs the game prior.
Dallas has been awful on the road this season with a 1-7 record, but six of those seven losses were against opposition with a record of .500 or above. Their coverage rate in these games is extremely poor, only managing to cover the spread in one of their last seven road games, which suggests the Pistons can challenge Dallas in this.
With the line set at -7.5, I’m confident that Dallas will get the road win here but the margin will be very close to this set line.
