Another one for your multi, I’d be shocked if the Cleveland Cavaliers don’t win the Central Division.

Detroit shocked a lot of basketball fans when they swiftly turned from being the worst team in the league to a 44 win, playoff team the next season. Cade Cunningham is a star, and the majority of key players return. The thing I love about them for this season is the return of Jaden Ivey, who missed most of last season, and the belief within the squad that they belong as a contender in the now weaker, Eastern Conference.
Jalen Duren is reliable and consistent; Tobias Harris provides the calming veteran presence and Ausar Thompson could potentially be as good as his brother. Detroit will be looking for home court playoff advantage and should get the top four spot required to do so.

Which team could have the biggest drop off from last season? I think it’s the Pacers. The loss of Haliburton to an Achillies and Myles Turner to free agency, has left some gaping holes in last seasons core unit. They have some guard depth to cover Hali, and we have seen Nembhard fill the role convincingly in the past, but the Centre position is a great concern.
Isaiah Jackson doesn’t move the needle, Tony Bradley is a back up, Jay Huff comes in from Memphis after showing the slightest glimpses as a stretch 5 and it could be former #2 pick James Wiseman who gets one more chance to prove himself at this level. Pascal Siakam has his work cut out to make this a 37+ win team.
Division Winner
This looks to be an easy pick on paper. Detroit the only real threat in the division. The Bucks are now a bit thin after moving Lillard and Lopez, and Indiana will have a rough fall from grace after appearing in last season’s NBA Playoffs. The Cavs have had their fair share of injuries but if Garland, Spider Mitchell and Mobley play the majority of games, they should win the Division and the Conference.
