Golf Tips – MyGolfLife Open 2022

The DP World Tour heads to South Africa this week but it is a Dane who presents as the best value play.

Best Bet

JB Hansen ($56)

Solid Danish veteran JB Hansen loves South Africa and can add his third win in 18 months to his resume.

Hansen won the Joburg Open in 2020 and then followed up 12 months later with a win in the Aviv Dubai Championship.

The keys to success here is an ability to go low, a strong iron game and flat stick reliability. Hansen ranks 18th in Strokes Gained: Putting, 21st in Birdie or Better and 23rd in Stroke Average.

Mid-Tier Bet

Richard Bland ($41)

English veteran who plays some of his best golf in South Africa.

In his last five starts in South Africa, Bland has two Top 7 finishes.

The two key tournament guides here are on recent Nicklaus designed courses used on the DP World Tour – the 2021 Cazoo Classic and 2021 Irish Open. Bland finished Top 4 in each.

Bland ranks 7th in Stroke Average and 13th in Strokes Gained: Approach.

Value Bet

Kalle Samooja ($101)

Finnish 34yo Kalle Samooja is still chasing his first DP Tour win but looks well suited here.

He ranks 20th in Birdies on Tour. He also finished 8th in the Cazoo Classic.

Posted a Top 10 in his most recent South African event .

Prop Bet

H2H – Adri Arnaus to defeat Thomas Detry ($1.87)

Arnaus has finished in the Top 9 in his last three South African events. He ranks 6th in Strokes Gained: Putting and 7th in Birdies. Detry has finished 26th or worse in four of his last five South African events.
