The PGA Tour season draws to a close this weekend as the Top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings square off – with the twist of staggered starting scores.
Best Bet
Scottie Scheffler starts on -10 but fancy Xander is the play here. He loves East Lake. He won here in 2017 and has not finished further back than T-7. He is enjoying a career year with two majors and is riding a 10-tournament Top 15 streak. He leads the Tour in Scrambling while he ranks 2nd in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green and 2nd in Par 4 Scoring.
Mid-Tier Bet
Aberg ranks Top 10 on Tour in Birdie or Better and that is just what is needed with the starting strokes madness that undermines this tournament. He jumps five strokes back but that is a number he can reel in. He was outstanding in the BMW when runner-up and has two major Top 12s this year.
Value Bet
Burns is another who can reel in a lead. He nearly did just that at the BMW Championship last week when shooting a final round 65 to finish in a tie for second. He ranks 2nd on Tour in Birdie or Better. Also leads the Tour in Putting Average. Big player this week starting six back.
Longshot Bet
Wyndham Clark has been all over the shop this season but fancy he can have a big week. He ranks 3rd in Putting Average, 5th in Birdie or Better and 15th in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee. Form is good with five Top 15s in his last six starts.
