The best 1st round 3-ball bets from the Open Championship for 2022.
Game 3
John Catlin should not be losing to world No.520 Challenge Tour player Jamie Rutherford and No.912 David Carey (who does hold the world record as the only person to shoot a 57 in a pro event). Catlin is in good form with three Top 25 finishes in his last four starts.
Game 9
Keith Mitchell is being wildly underrated this week and looks value. Former champion Padraig Harrington is unlikely to threaten here so this is a battle with Thomas Pieters. Mitchell has more upside than Pieters so siding with him at $2.70.
Game 14
No player in the field enjoys links golf more than Tyrell Hatton, who has two Top 6 Open Championship finishes and is a two-time Alfred Dunhill Links champion with two further runner-up finishes. Scheffler was poor at the Scottish Open and has not shot under 70 in his last three rounds. Niemann has little experience on links courses and has not shot under 69 in his last four first round games.
Game 39
Cameron Tringale is arguably the most boring player in the most interesting group that features Bryson DeChambeau and John Daly. Daly is a former Open champion but his best days are long gone. DeChambeau has been battling injury. Tringale shot 9-under in the opening round of the Scottish Open.
