The West Coast Swing is over after a terrific win by Hideki Matsuyama at the Genesis with the PGA Tour now rolling onto Mexico as Tony Finau seeks to defend his crown.
Best Bet
DP World Tour star Thorbjorn Olesen makes a rare PGA Tour start and looks a huge runner coming off a super impressive win in Ras Al Khaimah. Leads the DP World Tour in Par 5 Scoring and 2nd in Scrambling. Now a Top 40 player in the Data Golf rankings. Playing career best golf.
Mid-Tier Bet
Big hitter who is well suited here. Leads the Tour in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee, ranks 4th in Driving Distance and sits 11th in Par 5 Scoring. Forget his horrid recent form – he misses more cuts than makes but has three wins so when he likes a course he is in contention. Looks well over the odds this week with the Sanderson Farms, the site of his first win as a PGA Tour player, a key correlation course.
Value Bet
A quality player off the tee, Johnny Vegas looks a runner at ending a seven-year drought in a very weak event. Vegas ranks 5th in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee and has a good record on correlation courses including Top 25 finishes in the last two Phoenix Opens, the 2022 Texas Open and the 2022 Corrales.
Longshot Bet
It has been a tough 12 months for the Tour veteran but one of the two wins from Patton Kizzire came in Mexico. Has not played since the Wyndham but did finish T-13 there. Ranks 6th in Driving Distance and 6th in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee.
