The PGA Tour has concluded for 2024 but this pseudo-sanctioned event that features some of the world’s best finishes off the year with Scottie Scheffler a great play to finish the year on a high.
Best Bet
If there is one tournament it is okay to take the shorts in, this is it. There are only 18 starters and favourites have a very good record with Scheffler winning last year and Hovland (twice), Rahm and Matsuyama winning since 2016. Scheffler has played this event three times and has never finished further back than second. Leads the Tour in Par 5 Scoring and Birdie or Better while his record at Phoenix is a great guide here. Only favourite to consider,
Mid-Tier Bet
Burns is another whose Phoenix record puts him in the frame here with the talented Louisiana native finishing Top 6 in the last two editions. Burns has been in super form with seven Top 12 finishes in his last nine starts. Ranks 4th in Birdie or Better on Tour.
Value Bet
Clark ranks 8th in Driving Distance and 10th in Birdie or Better so has the right game to show up in Albany. The former major winner has not hit the winner’s podium for a while so will be as focused as anyone this week.
Longshot Bet
Dunlap enjoyed a rookie year to remember, becoming the first amateur to win on Tour in over three decades and then followed it up with another win later in the year. He ranks 3rd in Par 5 Scoring and 12th in Birdie or Better. Should not be on the second last line of betting.
