An outstanding field lines up this week at the time-honoured Alfred Dunhill Links including a host of PGA Tour stars led by Rory McIlroy and Matt Fitzpatrick.
Best Bet
The Alfred Dunhill Links is an easy set-up with the key to success being an ability to hit plenty of birdies. Taking place over three courses, this is a pro-am so the best players will find this relatively simple. Nobody has enjoyed this set-up more than Tyrell Hatton, who has two wins and two seconds across the last five stagings. Hatton loves links golf with a T-11 in this year’s Open and back-to-back Top 25 finishes in the Scottish Open.
Mid-Tier Bet
Tommy Fleetwood does not win nearly as often as he should but after a break he looks to be getting the point back to his game. He loves this tournament with five Top 5 finishes in the last decade at the Alfred Dunhill including two runner-ups. He finished T-4 at the Open this year as well as in the Scottish Open while his form at the Portugal Masters is a good guide.
Value Bet
Underrated Polish player whose third at the Qatar Masters is a good guide for this. An ability to score and in particular a good putting game is essential to success here. Meronk ranks 3rd on the DP World Tour in Strokes Gained: Putting, 4th in Putting Average, 8th in Birdies and 12th in Par 4 Scoring.
Longshot Bet
South African who is returning to his best with a third last week and four Top 22 finishes in his last six starts. He has a good record here with three Top 25s in his last seven Alfred Dunhill Links. He leads the Tour in Birdies and Putting Average while he won the 2020 Portugal Masters.
