The Mexico Open makes its PGA Tour debut this week and the Greg Norman designed course looks like it is made for the bombers.
Best Bet
Gary Woodland ($23)
2019 US Open winner Gary Woodland has been knocking on the door for a while and this is a tournament he looks able to break through in.
Woodland has three Top 8 finishes in his last six starts including a T-8 at the Valero Texas Open on another Greg Norman designed course.
He ranks Top 10 in the field in strokes gained on paspalum, a huge push, while he ranks 14th in Driving Distance.
Mid-Tier Bet
Cameron Champ ($51)
This looks a course for the big hitters and there is no bigger hitter on Tour than Cameron Champ. Champ leads the Tour in Driving Distance while he ranks 19th in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee. He finished 10th at Augusta so playing well enough.
Roughie
Austin Smotherman ($151)
SMU graduate whose only win on the Latinoameica Tour came in Mexico. Smotherman is a quality iron player who ranks 4th on Tour in Proximity and 18th in Strokes Gained: Approach. Looks a very strong Top 10/20 play.
Prop
Top English Player – Callum Tarren ($4.50)
Callum Tarren looks an excellent bet this week to be top Englishman after a season best T-5 at correlation tournament the Puerto Rico Open. Tarren ranks 18th in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee and that puts him in good stead to have a good tournament in Mexico.
