Scotland managed their first World Cup victory in 36 years, with a 1-0 win over Haiti. It was a fairly even game between the two, but Scotland took their chance in the 28^th minute and never handed back the lead.

The Moroccans had a blockbuster first match against Brazil which lived up to expectation, finishing in a 1-1 draw.

Scotland would be chuffed, sitting atop group C and a win here would almost guarantee advancing to the next stage. They now face two teams in a row inside the top ten FIFA world ranked nations.

Morocco is a far better quality side than Haiti, so they will be up against it.

Scotland were brave against Haiti and made the most of the goal opportunity when it presented itself. They didn’t generate many other opportunities however, with only two shots on goal for the match.

I expect Morocco to be too much for Scotland but had this have been the first match of the tournament, I would have doubted Scotland far more. They showed a resilience in front of goal and the ability to defend the eight attempts Haiti managed from inside the box.

Morocco were not inside the top 5 favourites for this tournament and a 1-1 draw with Brazil probably means they remain the same. Although not a country most picture as a football factory, they actually sit 6^th overall in the FIFA rankings.

I think they will be far too strong for Scotland, and they should pick up their first win of this World Cup.

The Scot’s did not much wrong in game one but a stronger showing against Haiti would have elevated their stocks with me.

Scotland’s McTominay hit the post in the 16^th minute, before McGinn had a deflection fall at his feet which he put in the net from another deflection. He scored Scotland’s first goal in nearly three decades at a World Cup.

In the second half they created a couple of chances but couldn’t capitalise. They also allowed Haiti as many chances in the second half and were a wayward header away from splitting the points.

Both first half opportunities for Scotland came from fast transition play and Haiti got caught out, up the field. Morocco should be well drilled and have the experience to not allow these sort of errors, resulting in a much harder opportunity for Scotland to score.
