Brazil vs. Norway Preview
A blockbuster matchup between two genuine contenders of the competition. Both lead by a superstar that could be the next face of world football. Erling Haaland has lived up to his expectations so far, five goals across his three matches, due to Norway resting him against France.
Vini Junior has also been fantastic with four goals and an assist in his four matches, supported by Matheus Cunha with three goals for Brazil. The Brazilians are tied for fifth for goals conceded and Norway are 4th for goals scored.
Best Bet
It should be an enthralling battle between juggernauts, and I would be surprised if one of these nations couldn’t score at least once.
Norway have scored at least 1 goal in their last six international matches. They are going at 2.16 goals per game over that period, with stronger games against the lower ranked opposition. They scored against France, Senegal and Morocco which puts them in good stead for a game against Brazil.
In Brazil’s last seven international matches they have scored multiple goals in all but one game, against Morocco. Three against Croatia and two against Japan are the highlight, but notable to also score against the French.
Same Game Multi Bet
I expect both superstars to be prominent, with both able to threaten if not score in this game.
Norway would be disappointed to not stay within this handicap after coming this far. It’s not just the emergence of Haaland, with Martin Odegaard dicing up teams through the middle third.
Without the finer details of deciding who, I think both halves should see one goal at a minimum. It should be a spectacle match for all and hopefully it lives up to expectation.
Value Bet
Going against the grain with the value bet, Norway to upset the Brazilians and keep the dream alive.
Brazil still has all the attacking talent, even with Neymar and Raphina questionable at best. It’s been Vini who has dug them out of some pretty deep holes. Japan had them on the ropes, scoring first, before Casemiro equalised. It took a 95th minute heartbreaker from Martinelli to break the hearts of the Japanese, booking Brazil’s ticket to advance.
Norway have hit their prime simultaneously and look to be starting a new golden generation. Their back half is the concern, and we saw against Senegal that even with a lead, its never over. Both teams are potent up front, who can learn from the group stage and secure the defensive upper hand?
