Head to Head
RCB are the better side in this competition by a wide margin right now and the Chinnaswamy is the worst possible venue for LSG’s fragile batting order. The short price is justified.
RCB lead the all-time series 4-2 and have won both previous meetings at Lucknow, but interestingly LSG have won both times they have visited the Chinnaswamy. That historical quirk is about the only reason to consider the $2.60.
The reality of this contest is that RCB have posted 200-plus in all four innings this season with the highest scoring rate, the best top-six average and the most boundaries per over in the competition. LSG’s top six has the worst run rate, the worst average and hits a boundary every 5.6 balls. They have not yet scored 200 in a single innings.
LSG’s bowling is the one area where they genuinely compete, with an economy rate of 8.5, the best in the tournament, and they are yet to concede 200. Mohammed Shami has been brilliant in the powerplay with an economy of 6.1.
But RCB are on a four-match home winning streak at the Chinnaswamy and Patidar, Padikkal and Tim David are batting at a level that is difficult to contain on this surface.
Back the home side.
Best Bet
Patidar has 195 runs this season and is striking at more than 200 against both spin and pace, making him almost impossible to plan for. He hit 53 off 20 in the last game and is the joint-highest six-hitter in the competition with 18.
Value Bet
Shami has dismissed Kohli five times in 12 innings and is bowling at a powerplay economy of 6.1 this season. Even on a flat Chinnaswamy surface he finds a way to create early chances, and RCB’s openers will need to negotiate him carefully. Good price for clearly the best bowler on his team.
