Two of the IPL’s heaviest hitters go head to head in New Chandigarh, with Punjab Kings hosting Gujarat Titans in a blockbuster clash between last year’s finalists and playoff regulars.

Head to Head
The head-to-head is perfectly level at 3-3 across six meetings, but PBKS arrive as the form side and are tough to oppose at home.
PBKS won the most recent encounter in IPL 2025, defending a mammoth 243 to win in Ahmedabad. After finishing runners up last season, they have largely retained the same squad that won 11 of their 14 league games last year. Their opening pair of Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya combined for 532 partnership runs at strike rates above 160, and with Marcus Stoinis and Shashank Singh in the middle order, they have genuine depth.
Gujarat bring Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, who combined for 912 partnership runs in IPL 2025, and a bowling attack with Rashid Khan and Mohammed Siraj as the marquee weapons. But Jos Buttler has failed to pass 10 in five of his last six innings and their middle order lacks a proven finisher.
The Mullanpur pitch produced 219 and 201 in its only IPL match, and Ricky Ponting is again expecting a high-scoring contest.
GT hold the only win at this venue, but PBKS’s superior recent form and home advantage make them the pick.
Best Bet
Arya was one of the standout performers of IPL 2025, contributing heavily to PBKS’s run to the final at a strike rate north of 160. In 17 PBKS matches last season, one of him or Prabhsimran crossed 40 in 15 of them, with Arya averaging 29. Arya is the most likely early match-winner for the hosts.
Value Bet
There’s not too much value on offer here given we’re expecting plenty of runs, but Sudharsan won the Orange Cap in IPL 2025 with 759 runs at a strike rate of over 155, forming one of the most productive opening partnerships in the competition alongside Gill. Against a PBKS bowling attack without a standout spinner to trouble him, Sudharsan is well placed to go deep into an innings.
