The Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals both head into this afternoon’s clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium off the back of opening wins, but the weather threatens to play a bigger role than either bowling attack.

Head to Head
MI’s record against DC makes them hard to oppose even at a short price, with four wins from the last five meetings including both clashes last season.
MI lead the all-time series 21-16 across 37 meetings and have won both games against DC at this venue in the last two seasons. Their batting depth is a clear advantage with Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton already combining for 148 in their opening win, Suryakumar Yadav in electric form and Bumrah remaining the best death bowler in the competition.
DC are a vastly improved side from last year with Lungi Ngidi a serious new-ball weapon, taking 12 wickets in seven T20 World Cup games at an economy of 7.19 and 3/27 on IPL debut against LSG. Kuldeep Yadav adds a genuine spin threat in the middle overs. But DC lost four of five home games last season and the batting order is still finding its feet with a new-look top three of KL Rahul, Pathum Nissanka and Nitish Rana.
There is one note of caution. This is a day game on a pitch where SRH posted 278 last season, and rain is forecast with a chance of thunderstorms. A shortened game could level the contest, so the short price doesn’t look a lot of value if DLS becomes involved.
Best Bet
Rohit smashed 78 off 38 balls in MI’s opening win and is in the form of his IPL career, going at a strike rate of 150 in IPL 2025. He opens against a DC attack where Ngidi’s biggest threat comes against right-handers, leaving Rohit well placed to score freely from the left side. On a flat Delhi surface he is perfectly set up to go deep.
Value Bet
Ngidi is a standout bowling performer of the early season with 3/27 on IPL debut against LSG. Bumrah has his worst economy rate of any venue at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, making Ngidi the more compelling bowling bet in this match.
