The new Big Bash season is here and Betseeker will be back with BBL 14 Tips and same game multi picks for every game of the new season.

Here are our picks for outright, top batter and top bowler for the 2024/5 season. You can also catch up on the list of the BBL 14 squads.

Outright

Perth Scorchers
Outright Winner

The most successful franchise in BBL cricket, having won five of the 13 titles and finishing runners-up another three times, again enter the new season with an exceptionally strong squad led by their brilliant homegrown domestic cohort. The inclusion of gun Kiwi Finn Allen will add some class, which will be important early with Cooper Connolly, Ashton Agar and Ashton Turner to miss the start of the season. Will be tough to beat again.

Melbourne Renegades
Outright Winner

The Renegades are the outsiders of the field but after an off-season clean-out, Cam White’s young team has some serious firepower which could put them in contention. The ‘Gades have brought in Heat hero Josh Brown, gun English duo Jacob Bethel and Laurie Evans and Kiwi keeper Tim Seifert, who join a big-hitting top six including rising star Jake Fraser-McGurk. With a strong bowling contingent consisting of Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson, Will Sutherland, Fergus O’Neill and Tom Rogers, the red team could surprise this year.

Top Batter

Matt Short
Top Tournament Batter

Short has been player of the tournament in the last two seasons and hit 180 more runs than any other player last season. The Strikers captain is simply dominant in this format and is a very justified favourite in this market.

Finn Allen
Top Tournament Batter

Kiwi opener Finn Allen is a star of T20 cricket, currently sitting in the top 20 in the ICC T20 batter rankings – the highest ranked international in this tournament. Enters in great touch, with three straight 30+ scores in Abu Dhabi and plays in a team that will almost certainly run deep into finals.

Top Bowler

Sean Abbott
Top Tournament Bowler

Abbott had an ordinary season last year but the BBL’s all-time leading wicket-taker has been in terrific touch to start the new Shield season, taking 13 wickets in two games. He topped the wicket taker rankings in BBL 12 and is more than capable of returning to that level.

Fergus O'Neill
Top Tournament Bowler

A big price here for the Sheffield Shield’s leading wicket-taker. The Victorian should get an extended run in the Renegades line-up with coach Cameron White looking to build his young squad over the next few seasons. He looks capable of exploding into the top tier of Aussie white ball quicks very soon.
