It’s last-chance saloon for the Renegades on Monday night as they travel to Sydney to take on the Thunder, whose season is already over.
Head to Head
This is not a head-to-head market you want to be diving into, with far better value available in the player markets.
The Thunder are almost unbackable, entering this match with a grim 1–7 record. To make matters worse, there is doubt over David Warner after he failed to take the field in their loss to the Heat after copping a knock to his knee.
The Renegades have been slightly better at 3–4 and desperately need a win to keep their finals hopes alive. They went down to the Stars in Saturday night’s derby, which marked the sixth straight Renegades match won by the team batting second.
On paper, the visitors look clearly stronger, especially with Adam Zampa and AJ Tye returning to the line-up, although that comes at the expense of the injured Brendan Doggett.
That said, the Renegades have lost 14 of their last 15 matches when batting first, so the only head-to-head angle worth considering is backing them if they chase.
Best Bet
Sams has been one of the few shining lights for the Thunder this season, taking 2+ wickets in four of his last five home matches. With the Renegades batting lineup looking shaky all season, he shapes as a strong chance to pick up another couple of poles.
Value Bet
Brown has been clearly the Renegades’ best batter this season, averaging 39 and clearing 25+ runs in four of his last five innings. He’s been top team batter in three of his last four games, making this price look well overs against the market favourite Tim Seifert.
