The Renegades look to go 2-0 in Geelong when they host the defending champion Hobart Hurricanes on Sunday night.
Head to Head
The Hurricanes have been a poor play as away favourites lately, so take the Renegades to remain undefeated here.
The reigning champions have lost seven of their last eight on the road when favoured, and 15 of their last 19 overall on the mainland. Home teams have also been the play in BBL 15, winning six of eight.
The ’Gades were sensational in their opening win over the Heat in Geelong, smashing 212 at a venue that has historically been low-scoring, before restricting the visitors to 198.
They’ll be further boosted by the return of Australia’s frontline T20 spinner Adam Zampa, along with potential debutant Sam Elliott, who has been in excellent form in the Shield this season.
The Hurricanes were smashed by the Stars at the MCG just three days ago and only just scraped over the line against an ordinary Thunder outfit. Their title defence may take some time to get rolling.
The toss will be all-important, as the Renegades have lost 10 of 11 when batting first but won nine of 10 at home when chasing. If they bat second, the Renegades are a strong play as underdogs.
Best Bet
Despite a rare failure with the bat against the Stars, we’re happy to back Owen to find the boundary at least three times, a mark he has cleared in four of his last five innings. The narrow Geelong ground is short in areas, so big hitters like Owen should cash in.
Value Bet
The much-hyped Seifert was a disappointment last season, but the Kiwi looks primed to explode in BBL 15 after smashing a century against the Heat. Backing him to repeat that effort at around $20 also looks worth a play.
