Coming off a rare home loss, the top-of-the-table Hobart Hurricanes host the Adelaide Strikers at Ninja Stadium.
Head to Head
Despite their most recent loss to the Scorchers in Hobart, the Hurricanes remain a strong bet at home.
The reigning champions had won their previous nine matches at Ninja Stadium. The Strikers’ record at the venue is putrid too, losing seven of their last eight.
The Hurricanes sit at 5-2 and have been a touch lucky in a few close results. There’s no doubt their experienced leaders like Wade, Ellis, Meredith, McDermott and Jordan have dragged them over the line in tight finishes. They just deliver when needed.
The Strikers do hold a 14-10 head-to-head record over the Hurricanes, but it’s hard to find many other positives for them here. Their highest score this season has been just 172, so it’s difficult to see them putting enough runs on the board unless Matt Short or Chris Lynn go nuts.
Both teams should go in with similar line-ups to their most recent matches, with the Hurricanes set to welcome Jake Weatherald and Beau Webster back for their next game.
The Hurricanes have an excellent record at home and look a class above here.
Best Bet
There’s a massive gap in the power game here. The Hurricanes average 7.9 sixes per match this season, while the Strikers average just 3.8 (ranked last). The home side should win this comfortably.
Value Bet
Few players dominate a single opponent like Ben McDermott against the Strikers. While he hasn’t been in great form recently, he’s smashed fifties in four of his last six innings against this opponent.
