The Big Bash carnival heads to Brisbane on Saturday night when the 1-1 Strikers meet the 1-2 Heat.
Head to Head
We’re at the point now in BBL 15 where simply backing the chasing team looks like the most profitable strategy.
The team batting second has won nine of the 12 BBL matches this season, as well as the last six at the Gabba and seven of the last eight involving the Strikers.
Neither of these teams looks likely to contend this season based on early form. While the Heat did win the unwinnable against the Scorchers by chasing down 257, their bowlers are conceding far too many runs, giving up more than 190 in each of their three matches.
The Strikers, meanwhile, haven’t been scoring enough runs, setting the Stars just 155 before barely chasing down 160 in their opening game.
The head-to-head is very even, with the Heat holding an 11-10 edge overall, although they have won four of the last five.
There are no major changes expected for either side from their previous matches.
Based on early-season form, this looks a pretty even contest, so the strongest play is to wait for the toss and back the chasing team.
Best Bet
Renshaw continues to look a class above at this level, scoring 25+ in six of his last seven BBL innings, including three straight at home. His last knock was a spectacular 102 at better than a run a ball against the Scorchers, and he arrives here in top touch against a limited Strikers bowling attack.
Value Bet
Young Liam Scott has looked terrific in the Strikers middle order so far this season, scoring 25 and 51 in his two outings, including his second straight Big Bash away half-century. If the Heat are chasing, he’s also worth a look in the player of the match market at a nice price.
